Children and inclusion in mediation/conciliation:
In some circumstances, the mediator/conciliator will meet with children. The purpose is not to ask children to make decisions (that's the job of parents!). The children, however, will be provided with a safe environment to discuss the impact of the parental conflict and separation on them. This information can then be fed back to parents, in a subsequent appointment, to assist them to make the best decisions for their children. Both parents and the mediator/conciliator have to agree to the children being seen before this occurs.
